One of the most basic tools for a paranormal investigation is a good camcorder. We strategically place our camcorders on tripods, normally two to a room, in adjoining corners so that we get two perspectives of the same room. We set the camcorders on Auto-Focus and let them run uninterrupted for up to an hour. From time to time, we will approach the camera, audibly announcing our presence, and we will check to make sure that it is still functioning properly. On more than one occasion, the camcorder settings have changed or the battery has been drained of power while we are out of the room. Some investigators choose to use strobe lights to attract energy, but we prefer to record in a more natural environment.
We have three good Sony camcorders with Night Shot capability in our arsenal of tools. They are great due to their ability to record in total darkness. The internal infrared light is limited however. If recording distances longer than 10 feet from the camera, we suggest using an auxilliary external IR light. Until recently we did not have an external IR light to boost the camcorder's Night Shot capability. Although quite viewable on the camcorder and on a television hooked to the camcorder, the resulting video is too dark when transferred to the computer. We will continue to try to "brighten" these video images so that we can add them to this page and we will post any new videos here as well.
In the meantime, enjoy this short clip of a flying insect illuminated by Night Shot. The speed of the orb and its erratic path lead us to believe it is an insect. This is the only video in our investigation files that was bright enough to transfer successfully to the computer.
Please check back with us often. We hope to have more videos and learning tools available soon.
